Obsidian Crystal — natural black volcanic glass
Obsidian forms when lava cools so quickly that crystals have no time to grow. The result is a natural volcanic glass, rich in silica, deep black and almost mirror-like. Each piece is natural and unique in size, color and pattern.
Look and feel
Because it has no fixed mineral structure, obsidian has a smooth, reflective surface that feels cool and heavy in the hand. With a hardness of 5–5.5 on the Mohs scale it is moderately durable, but it can chip or scratch, so handle it with some care.

Obsidian has been valued for thousands of years. The Maya, the Aztecs and Native American peoples used it in ceremony and for sharp blades.
