- Never leave a burning candle, incense or palo santo unattended. Keep it away from children, pets and anything that can catch fire.
- Burn on a heat-resistant holder or plate that catches ash and embers, in a room with some fresh air.
- Loose incense and resins burn on charcoal: set the charcoal on a layer of sand in a heat-resistant bowl and handle it with tongs. Charcoal and holders stay hot long after the smoke fades, so let them cool completely before touching or emptying.
- If you have asthma or are sensitive to smoke, use incense and palo santo with care, in a well-ventilated space.
- Candles: trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before each lighting. On the first burn, let a candle burn about one hour for every inch of its diameter, and never more than four hours at a time.
- Store incense, herbs and resins sealed, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight so the scent lasts.
- Stones: wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Each stone is unique in color and pattern.

Sage burns with a dry, earthy, green smoke. It is a grounding scent that many people enjoy before or after meditation or yoga, while journaling, or as part of an evening wind-down.

Sage has been burned in many cultures for centuries and is one of the best-known herbs traditionally used in smoke cleansing rituals. Many people light it when moving into a new home or office, at the start of something new, or at the full moon. We share this as culture and folklore, not as a promise of any effect.

How to use
- Open a window or door to ventilate the room.
- Place the bundle in a heat-resistant bowl or shell.
- Light the leafy tip, let it burn for a few seconds, then blow out the flame.
- Let it smolder, and if you follow the tradition, walk through your home and let the smoke drift into corners and doorways.
Burn in a well-ventilated room on a heat-proof surface. Never leave burning incense or charcoal unattended, and keep it away from children and pets. If you are sensitive to smoke, use sparingly. Not recommended for people with asthma or other respiratory conditions.
