Product care
  • Never leave a burning candle, incense or palo santo unattended. Keep it away from children, pets and anything that can catch fire.
  • Burn on a heat-resistant holder or plate that catches ash and embers, in a room with some fresh air.
  • Loose incense and resins burn on charcoal: set the charcoal on a layer of sand in a heat-resistant bowl and handle it with tongs. Charcoal and holders stay hot long after the smoke fades, so let them cool completely before touching or emptying.
  • If you have asthma or are sensitive to smoke, use incense and palo santo with care, in a well-ventilated space.
  • Candles: trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before each lighting. On the first burn, let a candle burn about one hour for every inch of its diameter, and never more than four hours at a time.
  • Store incense, herbs and resins sealed, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight so the scent lasts.
  • Stones: wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Each stone is unique in color and pattern.

Description

Fossil Stone — ammonite fossil

Fossil stone, also known as ammonite stone, is not a crystal but a petrified fossil: the mineralized remains of marine life, most often ammonites and orthoceras, that lived millions of years ago. Each piece is unique in color, size and shape.

Look and feel

Fossil stones show earthy shades of brown, beige and gray, with the fossil’s pattern and organic structure preserved in the stone. Their hardness ranges from 4 to 7 on the Mohs scale, depending on the minerals involved in their formation, so handle them with care. The ammonite’s spiral is often linked to the golden ratio, a pattern found throughout nature.

In tradition

Fossils have long been kept as symbols of stability, endurance and the long story of life. In many cultures ammonites were treasured, used in rituals marking longevity, carried by Native American peoples and set into amulets in ancient Egypt. In crystal lore, fossil stone is traditionally associated with the root and solar plexus chakras and with transformation and renewal. In astrological tradition it is linked with Virgo, Taurus and Capricorn.

What’s inside

  • One fossil stone
  • Size: approx. 1 in wide x 0.8 in high (varies by piece)
  • Weight: around 0.9 oz (varies by piece)
  • Color: earthy brown, beige and gray with fossil patterns

How to use

  • Meditation: hold it as a focal point for grounding and reflection.
  • Home and desk: place it in a room as a warm accent and a reminder of life’s long journey.
  • Jewelry: fossil stone is often worn as a pendant or bracelet.
  • Care: fossil stone can be sensitive to moisture, so avoid water. Crystal tradition suggests resting it in moonlight or on a selenite plate. Keep it dry, away from harsh chemicals and prolonged sunlight.

Each piece varies in color, pattern and size. Not a toy — keep away from small children.

Traditional associations are shared as culture and folklore; this product is not a substitute for medical care.
