Myrrh Resin Incense — earthy, balsamic natural resin
Myrrh is one of the oldest aromatic resins in human history. It comes from trees of the Commiphora genus — ours is Commiphora myrrha, which grows in the rocky deserts of Ethiopia, Kenya and India. You burn a few small pieces at a time on hot charcoal.
Scent and character
Myrrh smells rich, earthy and slightly balsamic, with a soft bitterness that gives it depth. All myrrh shares the same botanical name, but its aroma and character vary from region to region, much like coffee or tea. It is slow and contemplative rather than bright — a resin for evenings.
In tradition
Myrrh has been burned for thousands of years. In ancient Egypt it was part of spiritual ceremonies and embalming practice, and across many cultures it has accompanied prayer, offerings and meditation. It is traditionally used in smoke cleansing rituals and is often paired with frankincense. Today many people light it to mark a quiet moment, a meditation or the end of a long day.

How to use
- Place a heat-resistant bowl (ceramic or copper) on a stable surface.
- Light a piece of incense charcoal, holding it with tongs, and let it turn red-hot.
- Sprinkle a small amount of myrrh resin onto the charcoal.
- Enjoy the aroma as it fills the room, keeping the room ventilated.
Burn in a well-ventilated room on a heat-proof surface. Never leave burning incense or charcoal unattended, and keep it away from children and pets. If you are sensitive to smoke, use sparingly. Use tongs; charcoal stays hot long after the smoke fades. Not recommended for people with asthma or other respiratory conditions. Not packaged for food use.
