- Never leave a burning candle, incense or palo santo unattended. Keep it away from children, pets and anything that can catch fire.
- Burn on a heat-resistant holder or plate that catches ash and embers, in a room with some fresh air.
- Loose incense and resins burn on charcoal: set the charcoal on a layer of sand in a heat-resistant bowl and handle it with tongs. Charcoal and holders stay hot long after the smoke fades, so let them cool completely before touching or emptying.
- If you have asthma or are sensitive to smoke, use incense and palo santo with care, in a well-ventilated space.
- Candles: trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before each lighting. On the first burn, let a candle burn about one hour for every inch of its diameter, and never more than four hours at a time.
- Store incense, herbs and resins sealed, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight so the scent lasts.
- Stones: wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Each stone is unique in color and pattern.

Raw Jade Crystal — green jade
Jade is the name for two silicate minerals, nephrite and jadeite, both prized for their strength and smooth, cool feel. This raw piece is unique in size, shape and shade of green.
Look and feel
Raw jade shows soft to deep greens with variations from piece to piece. It feels smooth and cool in the palm, and with a hardness of 6–7 on the Mohs scale it is durable enough for handling, display and jewelry.
In tradition
Jade has been treasured for thousands of years. In ancient China it was called the stone of heaven and symbolized purity, wisdom and longevity, and it was prized by emperors and royalty. The Maya and Aztecs used jade in ceremonial rituals. In folklore it is sometimes called the stone of eternal youth, and in crystal lore it is traditionally associated with the heart chakra (Anahata), with love, compassion and harmony in relationships. In astrological tradition it is linked with Taurus, Libra and Pisces. Some traditions rest the cool stone over closed eyes for a refreshing moment.
