Product care
  • Never leave a burning candle, incense or palo santo unattended. Keep it away from children, pets and anything that can catch fire.
  • Burn on a heat-resistant holder or plate that catches ash and embers, in a room with some fresh air.
  • Loose incense and resins burn on charcoal: set the charcoal on a layer of sand in a heat-resistant bowl and handle it with tongs. Charcoal and holders stay hot long after the smoke fades, so let them cool completely before touching or emptying.
  • If you have asthma or are sensitive to smoke, use incense and palo santo with care, in a well-ventilated space.
  • Candles: trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before each lighting. On the first burn, let a candle burn about one hour for every inch of its diameter, and never more than four hours at a time.
  • Store incense, herbs and resins sealed, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight so the scent lasts.
  • Stones: wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Each stone is unique in color and pattern.

Our products are made for ritual and atmosphere. They are not a substitute for medical care.

Description

The Japanese House Backflow Burner is an exquisite piece designed to transform your incense practice into a captivating visual meditation. Crafted from stone, this burner creates a serene, miniature landscape where the fragrant smoke of a backflow cone cascades downwards, mimicking a gentle mist flowing around a tranquil abode. It is more than a holder; it is a focal point for calm and contemplation in your sacred space.

A Tranquil Scene, A Meditative Flow

Inspired by the simple, profound beauty of Japanese architecture, this burner evokes a sense of peace and order. As the incense cone smoulders, the smoke is drawn downwards, pooling and drifting out from the doorway and windows of the stone house. This mesmerising effect encourages the mind to settle, providing a gentle, moving point of concentration that enhances mindfulness, meditation, or simply a moment of quiet reflection after a long day.

Grounded in Stone

Each burner is part of our Stone Series, selected for its authentic, earthly character. The cool, smooth surface and subtle textures of the stone provide a grounding presence, connecting your ritual to the stability of the earth. Every piece is unique, with its own distinct variations in colour, grain, and pattern, ensuring that the burner you receive is a one-of-a-kind object of quiet beauty.

Creating Your Ritual Space

Using the Japanese House burner is a simple yet profound addition to any wellness routine. Place a backflow incense cone in the small chamber at the back of the house, light the tip, and then gently extinguish the flame. As the cone begins to smoke, watch the enchanting cascade begin. It is perfectly suited for your altar, meditation corner, or as a calming centrepiece on a side table, bringing a sense of architectural harmony and natural tranquility to your environment.
