- Never leave a burning candle, incense or palo santo unattended. Keep it away from children, pets and anything that can catch fire.
- Burn on a heat-resistant holder or plate that catches ash and embers, in a room with some fresh air.
- Loose incense and resins burn on charcoal: set the charcoal on a layer of sand in a heat-resistant bowl and handle it with tongs. Charcoal and holders stay hot long after the smoke fades, so let them cool completely before touching or emptying.
- If you have asthma or are sensitive to smoke, use incense and palo santo with care, in a well-ventilated space.
- Candles: trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before each lighting. On the first burn, let a candle burn about one hour for every inch of its diameter, and never more than four hours at a time.
- Store incense, herbs and resins sealed, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight so the scent lasts.
- Stones: wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Each stone is unique in color and pattern.

Description
Bay Leaf Botanical Incense — warm, herbaceous loose incense
Bay leaf (Laurus nobilis) is an old herb of kitchen and ritual alike. Here it is prepared as a loose botanical incense: a small pinch on charcoal releases the leaves’ aromatic oils and a warm, herbaceous smoke.
Scent and character
The aroma is warm and herbaceous, with a refreshing edge — grounding and bright at the same time. Many people like to light it during study, work or meditation, or as part of a calm evening.
In tradition
Bay leaf has a long history in folk and ritual practice. In folk tradition it is associated with communication, intuition and marking new beginnings, and it is traditionally used in smoke cleansing rituals and for setting intentions. We share this as culture; many people simply enjoy its distinctive botanical scent.
What’s inside
- Bay leaf (Laurus nobilis)
- Loose incense; incense charcoal and a heat-resistant bowl are needed to burn it
How to use
- Place a heat-resistant bowl (ceramic or copper) on a stable surface.
- Light a piece of incense charcoal, holding it with tongs, and let it turn red-hot.
- Sprinkle a small amount of bay leaf incense onto the charcoal.
- Let the fragrant smoke fill the room as part of your ritual, keeping it ventilated.
Burn in a well-ventilated room on a heat-proof surface. Never leave burning incense or charcoal unattended, and keep it away from children and pets. If you are sensitive to smoke, use sparingly. Use tongs; charcoal stays hot long after the smoke fades. Not recommended for people with asthma or other respiratory conditions. Not packaged for food use.
