Authorities in our business will tell in no uncertain terms that Lorem Ipsum is that huge, huge no no to forswear forever. Not so fast, I'd say, there are some redeeming factors in favor of greeking text, as its use is merely the symptom of a worse problem to take into consideration.

Product care

Anyway, you still use Lorem Ipsum and rightly so, as it will always have a place in the web workers toolbox, as things happen, not always the way you like it, not always in the preferred order.

Description

Hand-Forged Tibetan Singing Bowl — 28–30 cm bowl with wooden mallet

A large singing bowl with a rich, resonant hum and a long, lingering sustain that fills a room with warm sound. It is a lovely way to open or close a meditation, begin a yoga practice or bring a quiet moment into a busy day.

Design and material

Each bowl is hand-hammered by artisans in the traditional way, repeatedly heating and beating a metal alloy. The process gives every bowl its own character, and small variations in tone and overtone are part of its handmade nature. At 28–30 cm, its size and weight give a deep, low tone with a long sustain; set on a surface, you can feel the bowl resonate as it sings.

In tradition

Singing bowls come from Himalayan tradition, where monks and practitioners have played them for generations to mark the beginning and end of meditation. Today they are also played in sound baths, where people listen to layered bowl tones.

How to use

  • To strike: tap the outer side of the bowl gently with the mallet for a clear, bell-like tone.
  • To sing: circle the mallet slowly around the outer rim with steady pressure until a sustained tone builds.

Handle with care, and set the bowl on a soft, stable surface when playing. Keep out of reach of young children. Store dry.
