Copper Incense Burning Dish — a large copper-finish dish
A generous, all-purpose dish for many kinds of incense. Its large, flat base takes sticks and cones, and it is roomy enough for a charcoal disc with frankincense or myrrh.
Design and material
The dish is made from a blend of metals with a prominent copper finish, in the large size known in Turkish as büyük. Over time and with use, the copper finish develops a natural patina that adds character. Its steady base keeps it from tipping and catches ash and embers.

Copper has been valued for millennia for its warmth and durability, and copper vessels have long been part of Anatolian metalwork.

How to use
- For sticks or cones, set them on the dish, light the tip and blow out the flame so they smolder.
- For resin, light a charcoal disc with tongs, set it on the dish (a layer of incense sand under it is a good idea), and add a pinch of resin once it turns white-hot.
- Let everything burn out and the dish cool before emptying.
Place on a heat-proof, stable surface away from anything that can catch fire. Never leave burning incense or charcoal unattended, and keep it away from children and pets. The dish may get hot during use; use tongs for charcoal.
