This set brings together everything for a traditional Anatolian smoke cleansing ritual: our Nazar botanical blend of Anatolian sage, frankincense and peganum, an Anatolian sage stick, a ceramic holder, charcoal and incense sand. Nothing else to buy, nothing to improvise — open the box and begin.
Scent and character
On hot charcoal the blend opens rich and resinous. Frankincense gives a deep, balsamic base, Anatolian sage adds a dry herbal edge, and peganum (harmal) brings an earthy, smoky note that many Anatolian homes will recognize at once. The sage stick finishes the ritual with a cleaner, greener smoke.
In tradition
The nazar, or evil eye, is one of the most familiar symbols in Anatolian folk culture. In Anatolian folk tradition, this kind of blend is burned when a household marks a new beginning — a new home, a fresh chapter — and peganum in particular has been burned for generations in these home rituals across Anatolia and the Middle East. We share this as culture and folklore. Many people simply light it to mark a quiet moment and enjoy the warm, resinous scent.

How to use
- Open a window or door to ventilate the room.
- Fill the ceramic holder with incense sand to insulate the heat.
- Hold a charcoal piece with tongs or tweezers, light it and set it on the sand.
- Once the charcoal turns white-hot, sprinkle a small pinch of the Nazar blend on top.
- If you follow the tradition, carry the holder carefully through your home, pausing at entryways, corners and windows.
- Close the ritual with the Anatolian sage stick.
Burn in a well-ventilated room on a heat-proof surface. Never leave burning incense or charcoal unattended, and keep it away from children and pets. If you are sensitive to smoke, use sparingly. Use tongs; charcoal stays hot long after the smoke fades. Not recommended for people with asthma or other respiratory conditions.
